Welcome to Vicissitudes weekly! 

I am proud to say that Vicissitudes, my new novel is set for pre-release next week. It is a modern-day romance that explores the intricacies of love and romance. The book challenges readers to embrace their whole selves to learn how to truly embrace others. The complex characters of Vicissitudes, each tell their story, creating unexpected plot twists and turns which promise to spark deep discussions about all that it takes to be fully human. 

The deeper that I got into writing the novel, the more I understood that life is the only true privilege any of us have. It is the vicissitudes of life that keep us alive, charging us with the bravery to grow from the new and unexpected. If not, we perish into obsolescence. If open-mindedness keeps us alive, love is what keeps us human. It is with this in mind that I created these characters to take readers on an emotional journey of the human spirit. They invite you to discover the truly transformative power of love after you identify the places in your life where you have resisted change. 

Do you resist change? Or is it just changes that you don’t like? What are you afraid of? Does “too much” change trigger you? Does it cause you to reflect on our own stagnation?

As you ponder these pithy little things, I ask you to do one more thing with me. Celebrate "Transgender Awareness Week"! Although, the trans community has much to be proud of, this week is always bittersweet, as it ends with the Transgender Day of Remembrance (TDOR) on Nov. 20th.  In cities all over the world, the trans community and its allies converge to mourn the innocent transgender people taken too soon by violence and hatred. This important week reminds us all that our work is not yet done. None of us are free until all of us are free.
